Who was the last person to pay you a compliment?
Today, yesterday, or last week?
What did they compliment you about?
Your appearance, your work performance, or something else?
What was your response?
Did you reply with a simple ‘Thank-you’, or did you feel the need to return the compliment? Maybe you had to water down the compliment with a statement. Did you disqualify the compliment?
Many, many of us have been brought up to think that the correct way to accept a compliment is to defer the compliment, which in turn makes most of us really crappy at accepting compliments.
Did you know that your inability to accept compliments can really hinder a man’s ability to adore you? If your co-worker can’t compliment you, if your response to your friend’s praise of you is always something derogatory towards yourself, then let me tell you now that you are greatly reducing your capacity to be adored by a man.
Why?
Because you are cutting off your receiving ju ju.. You see compliments are like little gifts and winks from the world saying you are doing something right! If you keep blowing them off, well they’ll eventually stop showing up.
This is especially true with your dating life or in a relationship. It is truly a big turn off to men when they give you a sincere compliment and you counter with a “but what about the cellulite on my thighs” response. It is absolutely exhausting for men to keep having to repeat that they think you are beautiful just because you refuse to believe them. It is very attractive to be with a woman who loves that their guy has complimented them and appreciates their verbal adoration.
So let me break it down quickly.
If he is with you, he feels very lucky to be with you. If he has the opportunity to pleasure you, he feels very excited to do so. So do yourself a huge favor and don’t dilute that with your own personal insecurities. The correct and simple response is always “Thank-you”.
Practice that until you get the hang of it.
